Introduced the principles and information flow of the Ship Performance Management System.
Born in Haren (Ems), Germany, in 1966, I am a graduate Chief Engineer from the Hochschule Bremerhaven. After serving as an engineer on commercial vessels for several years, in 1992 I joined New Sulzer Diesel in the application engineering field.
In 1995 I went briefly to Japan, and then moved to Korea to build-up a more effective technical liaison office with Sulzer engine customers in East Asia.
In 1996 I was delegated to US to provide engine-romm arrangement consultancy to US Navy sealift programme.
After returning to Winterthur in 1998 I published the book "From the Mountains to the Seas: The Sulzer Diesel Engine", and later taking care of Ship Power Sales in Asia. I moved to another Swiss company for some time active in the manufacturing of fuel injection and other precise equipment.
In 2004 I returned to Wärtsilä Switzerland becoming responsible for the CSO / CAC for two years.
From 2006 to 2009 I was heading the world-wide two-stroke Service Sales & Sales Support at Wärtsilä in Winterthur; since 2009 I was assigned as Director, Strategic Account Management, for Wärtsilä Corporation but remain located in Winterthur.
In 2013 I moved to Hamburg having my first ad-interim management and maritime business consultancy experiences.
Interim management of Lloyd's Register classification and statutory services for the central & eastern European area including equipment approval, ensuring that agreed business targets are protected and grow is achieved. Reorganising and directing the business team for general client care ensuring a high level of service provision. Lead, managed and developed the business team and process of the business area to ensure planned results are achieved. This includes recruitment, performance management and training / development of the sales team.
Interim management of Interschalt's sales and products focusing on big data ship products. Continuous adaptation and aiming for excellence providing the required sustainable growth in commercial shipping, offering innovative software and service solutions. Developing software offerings in the fields of vessel compliance reporting, monitoring, performance management, fleet management, stowage planning, loading computer and trim optimizations – for both newbuild and retrofit application Introduced principles of services (SaaS, Navcom, Marine Data Engine) creating customer satisfaction offering solutions to aim for overall efficiency, safety and compliance.
Heading a project to establish a sales & marketing concept for Rickmers Shipmanagement services offering. Providing ideas and strategies to reach the ambitious growth target. Reflecting through interviews and market investigations current customer needs and defining growth areas. Developing need-based selling strategies and value-based services concept. Introduced organisational and strategic proposal to double number of vessels under 3rd-party shipmanagement.
